The Stanford Design Initiative organizes various programs for the design community on-campus.

Our past programs include:

-SDI Mentorship Program: We run a mentorship program to pair Stanford design students to practicing designers in the area. We host mixers, and fun activities on-campus for the program participants to get to know each other.

-Workshops and Design Development: We host student-run workshops, on topics ranging from photography, arduino or design-thinking. In addition, we host an annual Portfolio Review session, where we bring in designers to help give feedback on students’ design portfolios.

-Off-Campus Trips: We host subsidized trips to various design-related events, such as the Maker Faire. In addition, we host several company tours throughout the year.

-Speaker Events: We have hosted large speaker events, such as a Women in Animation PIXAR Panel. The speaker events allow students to hear about design in the real-world, various types of design careers and other design perspectives.

the design initiative supports Stanford's design community with weekly skill workshops, quarterly tours, and a healthy dose of design-thinking culture.
